Paul Light is a highly experienced Higher Rights Advocate who was called to the Bar nearly 30 years ago, qualifying also as a solicitor in 1997. He has practiced exclusively in criminal law, about which he is passionate. He prides himself in giving his clients in Bristol, Somerset and surrounding counties a highly personal service, often representing them from the police station, to the Magistrates Courts and Crown Courts, and as in one case of wounding with intent, continuing to a successful appeal in the Court of Appeal.
Paul’s prior experience, including nine years as a senior lawyer in the Crown Prosecution Service allows him to consider all cases from both the Defence and Prosecution perspectives. This insight often helps him when devising strategies for defending individual clients. He has represented clients charged with a full range of criminal offences including drug supply, arson, causing death by dangerous driving, murder, fraud and sexual offences.
He feels equally at home dealing with Road Traffic Offences, achieving particular success with the intricacies of excess alcohol cases. He has also developed particular expertise in dealing sensitively with clients suffering from autism, ADHD and other mental health conditions.
