Tuckers client cleared in football murder trial

March 28, 2013

Roberto Martini, of Tuckers’ Manchester office, successfully acted for one of the London based defendants charged with murder following an incident outside a Liverpool nightclub preceding a Liverpool v Arsenal match last year. Rob acted for Mark McEwen from police station through to Crown Court trial.

The case involved 3 defendants all of who denied the charges. The jury returned a unanimous not guilty verdict in relation to Mr McEwen, first of all the defendants, after just over a day’s deliberations. One co-Defendant was cleared on the basis of a majority decision and the jury was discharged for the third defendant the next day having failed to reach a decision. The case was reported, amongst other places, in the Liverpool Echo at http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2013/03/22/two-defendants-found-not-guilty-in-stuart-smith-murder-trial-in-liverpool-100252-33037016/
