Victory for Solictor in Police Claim

April 8, 2013

Andre Clovis has successfully settled an action against the police for substantial damages in a claim relating to the assault of a solicitor.  Catriona Sheehan suffered injury when forcibly removed from the custody suite in which she was trying to represent her 13 year old client.

Mr Clovis said: ‘A solicitor’s obligation is to their client and to the court, not to the police. Solicitors discharging their professional obligations should be able to do so, without fear that they will then be subjected to improper or unlawful conduct by police officers.’
